KUALA LUMPUR, October 16 – Kemaman Member of Parliament, Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, has urged the government to significantly increase the allocation for the Ministry of National Unity to strengthen the nation’s social harmony agenda.
Ahmad Samsuri said the move is crucial to ensure that national unity is truly prioritised as a pillar of national stability.
The Terengganu Menteri Besar noted that although the ministry’s allocation has slightly increased compared to the previous year, the amount approximately RM768 million remains the lowest among all ministries, which does not reflect the significance of the unity agenda.
“We must elevate the role of this ministry as a key national agenda,” he stressed during the debate on the 2026 Supply Bill in the Dewan Rakyat today.
In his speech, Ahmad Samsuri emphasised that all Malaysians aspire to live in a harmonious society that transcends religious, ethnic and socio-economic boundaries, which is a fundamental key to the country’s long-term stability and progress.
He cited Sabah and Sarawak as prime examples of harmonious multicultural societies, where a far more diverse population lives peacefully without conflict.
This, he said, should serve as a model for fostering national unity across the country.
